JOCKEY QUOTES
JUAN HERNANDEZ, NEIGE BLANCHE, WINNER: “Leonard told me that I knew the filly and she was feeling a little fresh today. In the warm-up I took her off the pony and I was galloping by myself, and I felt that she was really strong. I was thinking that she was going to show a little speed, but not to go wire to wire. She broke really sharp out of the gate, and I just let her go, she was comfortable all the way to the wire.
“She’s a really game filly, I was holding as much as I could but as soon as she felt the other horses she just started fighting back and kept going.”
TRAINER QUOTES
LEONARD POWELL, NEIGE BLANCHE, WINNER: “I knew she could handle the distance. There were a couple of times she ran some really good races at a mile and a quarter. She was fourth in the Rodeo Drive, she was third in the Belmont Oaks going a mile and a quarter, so those were Grade ones which were tougher company than today. A mile and a quarter is right up her alley if she gets the right trip.
“It’s very satisfying because we put in a lot of work, day in and day out, and the horses that show up like her every time, when you put the bridle on them it’s exciting.”
NOTES: The winning owner is Madaket Stables LLC, Laura DeSeroux, Marsha Naify and Mathilde Powell.
