JOCKEY QUOTES
FLAVIEN PRAT, ROSE DAWSON, WINNER: “We were drawn outside and Phil told me to get her to relax, so I dropped myself in and she relaxed well. She gave me a good kick down the lane. There was some early pace. Phil told me she can be a little rank sometimes, so I was really trying to focus on her more than the race. She is impressive.”
TRAINER QUOTES
PHILIP D’AMATO, ROSE DAWSON, WINNER: “I’m very proud of her because I kinda thought I might be throwing a lot at her, going long and first time grass and with winners. She just stepped up to the plate and it was a beautiful ride by Flavien. That was the cherry on top for the day. With the big field, she got a great setup and a great trip. She saved every inch of ground and he was able to tip-out at the top of the lane and it was beautiful to watch.”
OWNER QUOTES
NICK ALEXANDER, ROSE DAWSON, WINNER: “She went from maiden race to stake race. It was not expected. Her race in Los Alamitos was cool, but (five and a half) furlongs on the dirt compared to a mile on the grass against better horses that was a shock. I mean Phil (D’Amato) is the smartest guy in the world and he said he wanted to do it, I just said, ‘Okay, we don’t have anyone else’. He obviously knew something I didn’t know.
“We campaigned her mom and we campaigned her grandma, and that makes it special…it’s family I think that applies to mostly everybody here. The breeders that keep the horses and run them, you go from the foaling to the Winners’ Circle it’s a long journey but its so much fun, so rewarding.”
NOTES: The winning owner/breeder is Nick Alexander.
